To all our readers and our well-wishers,

Darbesh wishes everyone a Bengali happy new year 2023! We started in April 2020 in covid times and since then, we have come a long way. This e-magazine has published articles and blogs across different geographies in 6 online editions. Our articles have included photography, Art, quiz, fashion blogs, travel blogs, paintings, etc. 

In an endeavor to engage and involve our kids of Charlotte in Indian culture and arts, Darbesh team has also worked relentlessly over the years, to produce short films, audio stories, music videos, and games- most of it online and sometimes in person. Currently, they're available to watch on YouTube, 'Channel 35.22 - it's a wonderland'.

We are extremely proud to let our readers know that all the above initiatives have occurred from our personal budget and since the majority of them were online, we did not have to ask for monetary support from anywhere.

However, since the end of the covid era, the interest in online content started declining and this resulted in a decrease in enthusiasm for our online editions of the magazine, because of this we have re-adjusted our long-term goal to publish Darbesh both in print and online. This will help people to choose their comfortable medium (online/print) for reading content. In scouting for this process, we have realized that printing copies for the magazine is an expensive affair and almost next to impossible to run with our personal budgets.

Hence, we are trying to expand our horizons and involve more people to walk with us and support us in our endeavor to spread our tradition and essence among kids and other communities of the country. And with due support from all our fans, we have created a roadmap for 2024. If we can be in line with our roadmap, we will be able to successfully have our first print edition ready by 2024 only with the help of funds that we accumulate from public events like fairs and fests. The content of the magazine also will be collected through various events.

For now, what is coming up in our calendar is a Hasta Shilpo Mela (handicrafts fair) and a Poush Mela (Winter Fest) which would act as our main fundraiser. Apart from these fairs and fests, we also have an Art Competition, Literature fest, Spring festival, and Autumn festival lined up. 

Darbesh also has plans to start a new endeavor called the Darbesh Club for Kids. This club will work towards training kids of Charlotte in different art forms like music, dance, and dramatics, and finally make them stage ready for live performances.

All of our initiatives at Darbesh, work like a non-profit organization, and we need your utmost support to make this successful. And we promise nothing but a one-of-a-kind, long-lasting association that will be extremely fulfilling - and we strongly believe we will be able to deliver given our previous credentials and testimonials. দরবেশের সমস্ত পাঠক, অনুগ্রাহী ও শুভাকাঙ্ক্ষীদের জানাই বাংলা নববর্ষের প্রীতি ও শুভেচ্ছা। দরবেশের জন্ম Covid pandemic এর বছরে অর্থাৎ 2020 র এপ্রিল মাসে। ওই সময় থেকে আমরা এই e-magazine টির মাধ্যমে আমাদের আশপাশে থাকা কবি, লেখক, চিত্র শিল্পী, ফটোগ্রাফার ও ব্লগার দের কাজ ধারাবাহিক ভাবে প্রকাশ করে এসেছি এবং আমরা এখনো পর্যন্ত ছয়টি online edition বের করতে পেরেছি।

এছাড়া শার্লট শহরের নানা উদীয়মান কিশোর কিশোরী ও প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক শিল্পীদের নিয়ে audio story, short film, animated movie, music video, বাংলা নাটক তৈরি করে দরবেশ সবার মনোরঞ্জন করার চেষ্টা করে এসেছে। তবে এই সব প্রয়াসই ছিল মূলত online অথবা সীমিত ভাবে in-person. দরবেশের এই production গুলো "Channel 35.22 : It’s a wonderland” ইউটিউব চ্যানেলে দেখতে পাওয়া যাবে।

আমরা খুব গর্বের সঙ্গে বলতে পারি যে উপরোক্ত সকল উদ্যোগের জন্য এযাবদ কারুর কাছ থেকে কোনো আর্থিক সাহায্য নেওয়ার প্রয়োজন হয়নি। কারন আমাদের মাধ্যম ছিল মূলত online এবং এই উদ্যোগের যাবতীয় খরচ আমরা ব্যাক্তিগত পুঁজি থেকেই জোগাড় করে এসেছি।

কিন্তু pandemic পরবর্তী পর্যায়ে online content এ পাঠক ও দর্শকদের আগ্রহ ক্রমাগত নিম্নগামী হবার কারণে আমাদের e-magazine টির চাহিদাও ক্রমশই কমতে থাকে। এই পরিস্থিতি থেকেই আমরা দরবেশ এর online edition সঙ্গে print edition ও বার করে সবার কাছে পৌঁছে দেবার চিন্তা ভাবনা করতে শুরু করি। কিন্তু এই সঙ্গে আমরা এও বুঝতে পারলাম যে কেবল ব্যাক্তিগত পুঁজি দিয়ে একটি ম্যাগাজিনের print edition বার করার খরচ সামলানো আমাদের পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়।

অতএব দরবেশের কাজের পরিধি ও ব্যাপ্তি বিস্তার করে সকলের সহযোগিতা পাবার উদ্দেশ্যে আমরা একটা roadmap তৈরি করেছি। সেই roadmap অনুসারে 2024 সালে দরবেশের প্রথম বাৎসরিক print edition বের করা হবে। এই print edition টি crowd funded পুঁজির মাধ্যমে publish করা হবে এবং তার content বিভিন্ন ছোটো বড় অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে জোগাড় করা হবে। আপাতত দরবেশের আগামী কর্মসূচির মধ্যে একটি পৌষ মেলা, একটি হস্ত শিল্প মেলা আছে যে দুটি মূলত fund raising এর কাজে ব্যবহার করা হবে। এছাড়া একটি Art Competition, একটি literature fest, একটি spring festival ও একটি autumn festival করা হবে।

এর সঙ্গে একটি Darbesh Kids club এর সূচনা করা হবে, যার উদ্দেশ্য হবে শার্লট শহরের কিশোর ও কিশোরীদের বিভিন্ন শিল্পকলায় পর্যাপ্ত প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়ে লাইভ পারফরম্যান্স করার লক্ষে প্রস্তুত করা।

দরবেশের এই সকল কর্মসূচি একটি non-profit organization এর মতই পরিচালিত হবে। তবে আমাদের এত কিছু পরিকল্পনা কিছুতেই সফল হবে না যদি না আপনারা সবাই আমাদের পাশে এসে দাঁড়ান। আমাদের স্থির বিশ্বাস যে সবাই মিলে একসাথে এক উদ্দেশ্যে কাজ করতে পারলে শার্লট শহর একটি যুগান্তকারী কর্মকাণ্ডের সঙ্গে পরিচিত হতে পারবে। আশা করি আপনারা আমাদের পাশে থেকে সহযোগিতা করবেন।
